Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need experience to use the makerspace?
No experience is required. FiiNGO welcomes everyone from beginners (age 18+) to advanced makers. Safety training is provided before using any tools, and workshops are available to help you build skills and confidence.
What tools and equipment are available?
FiiNGO offers tools across multiple disciplines, including woodworking, metalworking, laser welding/cutting, 3D printing, digital fabrication, sewing & textiles, and bike maintenance. All equipment is maintained to professional standards.
How does membership work?
FiiNGO members receive exclusive booking privileges, full access to all tools, and priority registration for workshops and classes. Membership is $300 per month and includes unlimited use of general shop areas such as the wood shop, metal shop, sewing studio, and bike shop, along with access to premium digital fabrication equipment including 3D printers, CNC routers, and xTool machines.
Each month, membership includes 10 hours of 3D printing time, 5 hours of CNC router time, and 5 hours of xTool MetalFab time. Additional 3D printer time ($1.50 per printing hour), CNC router time ($1 per minute), and xTool MetalFab time ($1 per minute) may be purchased in 30-minute increments.
Memberships require a 3-month commitment. Early cancellation incurs a fee equal to half of the remaining term. Memberships may be paused for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 1 month, with paused time added to the end of the membership. Extended pauses may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
Can I visit FiiNGO without becoming a member?
Yes. Non-members can book public drop-in sessions directly on our website, attend workshops, or schedule a guided tour. These options allow you to try the space before committing to a membership.
How do I book tools, workstations, or time in the space?
Members can reserve tools, labs, and workstations through the online booking system. This helps ensure fair access and allows you to plan your project time efficiently.
Are workshops included with membership?
Workshops generally have a separate fee to attend, though members may receive discounts or occasional free access to select workshops. Members also receive priority registration for all workshops. Details and pricing for each workshop are listed on the Upcoming Workshops page once the workshop has been scheduled.
Can I teach or propose a workshop?
Yes. Members with relevant skills and experience can propose workshops. This is a great way to share knowledge, support the community, and earn money through FiiNGO.
Is the makerspace safe?
Safety is a top priority at FiiNGO. All users must be 18 or older, complete safety training before using any tools, follow posted guidelines, and adhere to the Code of Conduct. Staff are available to provide guidance and ensure the proper use of equipment.
Can I work on commercial or paid projects at FiiNGO?
Absolutely. Members are allowed to work on commercial projects and sell the items they make, as long as they follow membership terms and the Code of Conduct. Members also have opportunities to sell their work through FiiNGO’s website, Etsy page, and any other sales channels we create, giving them additional ways to earn income.
